Lycopene is the natural substance which makes tomatoes red and is also found in smaller amounts in pink grapefruit, watermelon and guava.

Worldwide research shows that lycopene is a very valuable and powerful antioxidant that helps your body to fight against the damage caused to your cells and DNA by free radicals. Free radicals are produced naturally when cells use oxygen, they are produced if you are stressed and also  arise from environmental   from pollution  and smoking! The damage caused by  free radicals lead to health problems such as cancer and   heart disease.

The main source of lycopene is red tomatoes. However, your body can only absorb lycopene from cooked tomatoes. It is recommended that your intake should be up to approximately 4 a day to help prevent problems and up to 8 a day to help treat problems.

Cooking and eating that many tomatoes everyday is, of course, not  convenient. This is why each Lycoplus EXTRA   capsule contains lycopene from approximately  8 cooked tomatoes so it is quick and easy for you to take!

Lycopene builds up in the body over many weeks especially in the prostate, breast tissue and skin.  Out own research shows that the efficiency of lycopene to remove damaging free radicals is substantally increased by the presence of adequate vitamin C. This is beacuse the very process of removing the free radicals uses up the lycopene - it becomes 'spent lycopene'. However, vitamin C reconverts 'spent lycopene' back to normal lycopene which can then continue to protect you.  Vitamin C is reduced if you smoke, spend time with a smoker, live in a polluted large ciyy/town or if you are STRESSED. That is why we include the Government's Recommended Daily Allowance (the RDA) of vitamin C in every capsule of Lycoplus EXTRA.

Vitamin E is also  excellent  general anti-oxidant  which reduces free radical damage and we also include the RDA of vitamin E in Lycoplus EXTRA. Vitamin C also reconverts 'spent vitamin E' to normal vitamin E.   Finally, we include gamma linolenic acid - GLA. This is comes from evening primrose oil and blackcurrant seed oil and also has health benefits, especially for your skin.
